The F.E.R.N.S. Program is an extension of the services offered at Fernlea House Day Care Unit.
Specially trained volunteers are available to visit people, who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness, in their own home.
The aim is to provide social interaction, activities and a break from the routine.
The trained volunteers are also available to stay with the person to allow the carer to have a "break" or attend to other activities. The program is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
